Artist Statement

Painting is an opportunity to look at the true nature of the world. My senses must be keen. I try not to take the power of observation for granted, there are smells, tastes, reflections, gestures, and light that are always changing, wafting through time. While my painting may have a style, I believe my hand is led by what I see and feel. I do not wish to paint what I think. A work is the foundation of a memory and relationship with a place that defines me. The materials may change, but the art remains my connection to this place.
